CHIEF SALES OFFICER
John is the Chief Sales Officer for HKMB HUB International and HUB International Ontario. With over 20-years experience in the insurance industry, John has a depth and breadth of knowledge that is invaluable when dealing with almost any industry or risk.
Prior to taking on the CSO role, John oversaw various industry practice areas including Sports and Entertainment, Auto Dealers and Leasing Companies. Within his portfolio were some of the largest lessors in North America, over 200 auto dealer locations, and Insurance Captives for two major auto manufacturers.
John graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. While working for CIBC, he received excellent financial training and great business discipline which has stood him in good stead since. His career in insurance began as an underwriter, then Territory Director at Wellington Insurance (formerly Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company) in Toronto. In 1987,he andbusiness partner Greg Belton purchased Muntz & Beatty Inc., one of Canada’s oldest commercial insurance brokerages. In 1994, Muntz & Beatty merged with Guthrie Keilty Bickerstaff and, in 1998, merged with Hunter Rowell Limited becoming Hunter Keilty Muntz & Beatty (HKMB). HKMB grew to become one of Canada’s largest privately owned commercial insurance brokerages. The firm joined the HUB International family in January of 2008.
Currently, John serves on the Board for Eastern Platinum, Mukuba Resources Limited and NexgenRx. He is a former Director of the Canadian Finance and Leasing Association (CFLA).
John also makes time to give back to his community. He has recently been named to the Board of Bishop Strachan School, and is a former member of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Capital Campaign. Until recently, he was a member of the Board of Governors at Kingsway College School, as well as a coach of a successful minor hockey team.
John is a member and former Director of the Toronto Golf Club, a member of the University Club of Toronto, Rocky Crest Golf Club in Muskoka, Ontario and the Holimont Ski Club in Ellicottville, New York.
John is married and has 3 children.
