Partner, Surety Practice Leader
Kelly’s insurance career began in 1983 after graduation from York University where she obtained a degree in Political Science. Her experience has included both broking and underwriting of the surety product. Specifically, Kelly spent 5 years as the Surety Manager for Canada of an international insurer and 10 years with a multi-national broker most recently as the Leader of their National Construction and Surety Practices. She joined HKMB in 2006.
Kelly has been involved with some of the largest bonded construction projects and contractors in Canada, the U.S. and overseas. Some notable bonded projects include the Confederation Bridge and Highway 407, along with numerous institutional, commercial, and other infrastructure projects. Her clients have included general contractors, heavy/civil contactors, roadbuilders, trades, and suppliers. Kelly has also arranged bonds for both public and privately owned corporate clients with specialized surety needs.
Kelly is a member of the Surety Association of Canada and past board member of the Toronto Construction Association and the Canadian Construction Association. She is also involved in fund raising for the York University Foundation.
