Sandra leads HKMB’s Small and Mid-sized Business unit as well as our reverse flow (Bill C-80/International) practice area which provides a facility for foreign brokers to access Canadian markets and issue Canadian insurance policies. Her mandate also includes implementing standards and best practices within the firm.
Sandra started her insurance career as an adjuster for a U.S. insurer in 1985. She took over managing the Canadian claims office a year later. She moved to Commercial Underwriting and Marketing in1991 while working on her MBA. She has worked within the Commercial area both in a Regional and Head Office capacity at a number of large insurers including Chubb, ING and, most recently, Dominion of Canada. Elements of workflow design and organizational structure have always been in her area of responsibility.
With an MBA in Strategic Management from York University, her Chartered Insurance Professional designation in Claims and Fellowship in Underwriting, and her RIBO license, Sandra has a strong theoretical background to support insurance and organizational design.
Sandra joined HKMB in 2005. She has a son who enjoys golfing and skiing with her in Collingwood.
