Sean is in charge of HKMB's Life Sciences/Bio-Tech and High-Tech Practices, along with management of select Venture Capital and Private Equity clients.
Sean joined HKMB in 1998 and has been involved with Life Sciences and High Tech throughout his tenure here. Prior to HKMB, from 1994, he was a commercial lines underwriter at Guardian Insurance.
Sean stays connected with developments in the industries he serves via a number of industry organizations including:
- Toronto Biotech Initiative (TBI),
- BioFinance,
- CEO Forum,
- BioContact,
- York Technology Association (YTA ),
- Mississauga Technology Association,
- Communitech
- Canadian Venture Capital Association (CVCA),
- Venture Fair, and
- Toronto Venture Group (TVG).
He has spoken at the Property Liability Underwriting Society on client strategies in a challenging insurance market, and at the RBC/PWC CFO Roundtable concerning trends in coverage and costs for Directors & Officers liability insurance.
Sean obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from York University in 1992, his Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation in 1994, and his Certified Risk Management (CRM) designation in 1997 from the University of Toronto. He completed York University's Schulich Executive Management Program in 2002.
