Partner, Vice President of operations, director of programs
Since 2011 Steve has been HUB HKMB’s Programs Director and Vice President of Operations. He joined HUB in 1997 as an Account Manager. In 2004, Steve became a shareholder and Partner, and in 2008 he was promoted to a Vice President.
Steve’s primary responsibility is the oversight of HUB HKMB’s commercial operations. In addition to this role he collaborates with HUB’s National Program Director to supervise the maintenance and development of programs. Steve is also responsible for overseeing of a business unit of HUB that focuses on Commercial Programs and Not for Profit Organizations. This business unit currently has over 3,000 individual insured’s. With this program experience, Steve understands the paper flow of high volume clients. He has developed an expertise in efficiently expediting individual services simultaneously to a large number of insured’s.
Experience
With nearly 15 years in plans and programs experience, Steve’s insurance and risk management career has been built on a foundation of understanding and responding to the needs and expectations of both the franchisor or association and its franchisees or members for whom the insurance benefits are intended.
His experience includes managing the insurance concerns of some of Canada’s best known franchise brands, as well as professional liability and complex not-for-profit organizations. The unique nature of these type of programs requires an appreciation of the workflows necessary to effectively and professionally service hundreds of individual insured’s. This involves the successful marketing of any insurance product en masse.
Steve’s interest and expertise in liability insurance extends to his teaching of this subject at the Insurance Institute of Ontario and Sheridan College. Prior to joining HUB HKMB, Steve gained direct experience in both underwriting and claims adjusting . He is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute (FCIP), and a graduate from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Steve is from Hamilton Ontario and he lives in Etobicoke with his wife and two boys.
